These strange little nubbins are the beginnings of burr oak acorns, dropped by the tree before they could begin to open up or reach their full (monstrous) size! Now cast into solid bronze (read about the process here), every detail of each one is permanently preserved.

Please note: these aren’t really sharp, but they are very grabby, and will catch on knit garments in particular if given half a chance. Wear with caution.
