Carnelian
Just a little guy: this gemmy carnelian is set in bronze wings measuring just under two inches across, and not quite an inch tall.
As always, every winged piece is unique! Each one begins by matching a stone to one of my many wing doodles, inspired by insects, fantasy art, and natural shapes. Using my drawings as a template, I sculpt the wings in wax wire, and then build shape and texture with heat! No two are ever quite alike.
