This was once a real acorn cap, dropped by a living tree! Now, it is solid brass, with a new stone “nut” - it’s corundum, the mineral that makes up both ruby and sapphire, and a Changeling favorite. The original organic matter of the cap is completely replaced with metal during the casting process, which you can read about here. What remains is a one-of-a-kind piece of nature, preserved forever in metal and stone.
